A Little Sneak Peek Inside General Collective This Sunday

This Sunday, the doors of Auckland Showgrounds will open to more than a hundred New Zealand designers, makers, artists and independent brands—all gathered under one roof for the General Collective Lifestyle & Design Market – Winter Edition.

From beautifully crafted furniture and contemporary jewellery to innovative accessories, playful homewares and winter-ready pieces, there will be something inspiring around every corner.

Here's just a little sneak peek at some of the exceptional brands and creative talent waiting inside the doors this Sunday…

Edward Prince

Working from his Titirangi workshop, Edward Prince combines traditional craftsmanship with thoughtful, functional design—from hand-carved spoons to marquetry bookmarks in native and exotic timber. Look out for his Dove-tables: American oak pieces with hand-cut dovetail joints that stack together to form shelves.

Velvet Heartbeat

Velvet Heartbeat creates ethical handbags and accessories from the world's most innovative plant-based leather alternatives—apple pulp, cactus, pineapple leaf and corn. The Paz Bag, handcrafted from apple leather, is a striking example of the craft.

Fiona Clarke ART

Watercolour artist Fiona Clarke paints across subjects and themes, from a quirky steampunk-inspired series to tender bumble bees at work in the garden. Look for her Coffee Artwork series, painted using real coffee in place of pigment, plus everyday pieces like her artwork-printed hot/cold flask.

Tania Mallow Jewellery

With more than two decades of experience, Tania Mallow draws on native birds and natural forms—including a sterling silver necklace of two pīwakawaka facing each other across a pounamu stone. Sterling silver kōtare earrings and gemstone pieces round out a collection made to be treasured well beyond the season.

Hillside Incense

Hillside Incense brings a modern twist to traditional Neo-Chinese incense, blending natural essential oils into fine powders using temple-making techniques. Try Serene Hillside, a woody blend and last year's best-seller, or the handmade Ode to Harmony and Veiled Peaks sachets for a quiet dose of calm on the go.

Layer & Loop

Auckland-based Layer & Loop 3D-prints playful character planters, personalised gifts and desk accessories, every piece printed, finished and packaged locally in small batches. Their cactus-shaped desk tidy might make even the messiest pen collection look good.

Bad Habits

Bad Habits handcrafts gourmet marshmallows in small batches from their New Zealand kitchen, chasing bold flavours and a fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Start with the Sampler Box, or go straight for the Toasted Coconut Marshmallows—the ones people come back for.
