Joining our designer showcase at Kings Plant Barn Stonefields this December is the fabulous Floss – an Auckland-based cakery and social enterprise on a mission to make people smile, one cake at a time.
This Christmas they have launched their Are you O’caKe? Festive Flosskits which not only help you eat, bake and be merry, but act as the most delicious and Christmassy way to open conversations around mental health.
In signature vanilla or chocolate, each Flosskits comes with everything you need to make an absolute banger of a cake including all dry ingredients, high-quality edible decorations, Flossmas sprinkles and even a piping bag to wow your friends and family.
Not only is the finished cake a showstopper, but the cake creating process is also designed to help open up conversations about the sometimes tricky topic of mental health, with each Flosskit containing conversation starter cards so you can bake together and have a good chat.
Lauren Stewart, founder of Floss says she absolutely loves Christmas but through her own mental health journey knows that this time of year can be tough for many people.
“It’s one of the hardest times of the year for me personally, I’m usually at my most anxious so being distracted from my thoughts and doing things with my hands like baking and listening to Christmas songs with friends is one of my favourite things to do,” she says.
“I hope that the Festive Flosskits help others to feel, even for an hour or so, just little less alone and a little more safe. We can’t feel good all the time, but maybe we can stop and take a moment to enjoy some time with loved ones… and some cake,” she says.
By buying a Flosskit this Christmas, not only will you be supporting a local small business, but $1 from every purchase is donated to the incredible work that NZ Mental Health Charities do.
This Christmas we encourage everyone to ask the question – Are you O’caKe? And pop in to Kings Plant Barn Stonefields, have a chat with Lauren and sample her delicious Festive Flosskits.
Come and see the difference!
