On Sunday 28 May, General Collective launches the 2023 market season with their flagship Lifestyle & Design Market at the Auckland Showgrounds.
A super exciting line-up of Kiwi creatives (Close to 200!) is locked and loaded and ready to dazzle you with their wares. With a number of new brands to discover, innovative new food to chow down on plus the return of many of our General Collective favourites, this is one big day out you don’t want to miss.
“The quality of creatives and designers coming through is really breath-taking. What we’re seeing is a really exciting wave of new talent emerging and we are thrilled to be able to provide a platform to introduce these brands to an eager audience who love supporting local,” says Rose Barbarich, Founder of General Collective.
Here are just a few new brands joining the General Collective family for the first time…
The Solo Blacksmith – Auckland based blacksmith, crafter and tutor Solomon Marshall uses new and recycled materials to create simple, sustainable designer homewares and tools for everyday use. Beautifully crafted, these items will be treasured for a lifetime.
Samantha Stokes Collection – Taupiri artist Samantha Stokes hand-makes exquisitely embroidered kids accessories, art and kimonos and is best known for her use of delicate embroidered flowers to make whimsical fairy wings.
Mr Chorkie – What pooch doesn’t need a stylish corduroy and teddy bear fleece coat to brave the cold? Designed using fabulous fabrics in multiple styles and sizes, Mr Chorkie’s dog accessories include bandanas and bowties and will make every hound look their dog-gone best.
Bethan Art – Artist Bethan Marshall will be showcasing a colourful display of original paintings; prints, greeting cards and homewares. Perfect as gifts or to treat yourself, her products are a great way to introduce New Zealand art into your home.They’re also excited to welcome back long-time General Collective favourites such as SOPHIE (New Zealand designed fashion & accessories), Helen Miller (locally made handcrafted designer handbags), Claybird Ceramics (locally made ceramics & homewares), Love Winter (handmade & New Zealand designed jewellery) and Cook & Nelson (bringing 'best of the world' artisan food to New Zealand, plus their new local drink range Good Sh*t) to the party.
Plus, we’ll make sure you are well-fuelled with coffee stops, food trucks and take-home goodies galore.
New to the General Collective crew are Roaming Flamingo with tasty tacos from MasterChef grand finalist Elliot McClymont, Nuestra Cocina who make Latin American food filled with good vibes, Butter Baby, a pop-up bakery celebrating jazzed-up, old school favourites and Cheese on Toast whose house made sourdough toasties stuffed with unbelievably good fillings will blow your mind.
