The General Collective Queen’s Birthday Market & Whānau Festival is taking over The Cloud this long weekend with two-days of free family-friendly festivities including live music, creative workshops, great food and of course, New Zealand’s best market.
A collaboration between Eke Panuku Development Auckland, General Collective and Interesting Things, the event has been created to offer something unique for the whole whānau to enjoy together this long weekend.
Alongside General Collective’s high-end market line up which features some of New Zealand’s most exciting creatives and designers, like Koa Organics, Ribbon On A Bombshell and Fig and Honey, plus a bunch of exciting new brands, there’s free entertainment galore.
Don’t miss award-winning hip-hop heavyweight King Kapisi and songstress Teremoana Rapley as they take over the DJ Stage on Sunday. Plus there is lots happening on the Whānau Stage with performances by Lily Jackson and Captain Festus McBoyle’s Travellin’ Variety Show.
Be part of a New Zealand first with the GO-GO Family Rave – a brand new way for families to connect, have fun and cut shapes together! The little ones can also burn off some energy with Junky Monkeys in their pop-up adventure playground made entirely of recycled materials.
There are oodles of free creative activities to enjoy including Kra Koto Kra Drumming and Sew Love Sewing workshops, face painting and in true General Collective style, some of Auckland’s best street food vendors will be onsite to keep you well fed, including Double Dutch Fries, Dough Boys, Canteen Bali and Amaranto.
"Public holidays are a time to connect with our friends and whānau and to hit reset for a couple of days. This long weekend we've created two days of activities, workshops, music and markets featuring some of New Zealand's most exciting makers and creators – there really is something for everyone," says Jamie Newman from Interesting Things.
Bring your girlfriends, your husbands, your aunties or your kids for two action-packed days of creative energy at the General Collective Queen’s Birthday Market & Whānau Festival.
