General Collective creative community inspire to help others

New Zealand makers and creatives do some pretty amazing things to give back to the community and we are proud to have some of these inspiring brands at our General Collective Ponsonby Central Winter Market

Ethos is a sustainable skincare brand which challenges the conventional skincare industry. 100% of profits from their moisturisers, hand washes and skin repair oils fund sustainable development of poor communities in Cambodia, helping to replant coconut trees which act as carbon sinks. They believe, what you buy can change the world.

Great Full optimise the true meaning of a collective. This not-for-profit brings together creative leaders who collaborate to produce limited edition collections. 100% of profits from their first project ‘Baby Onesies’ go to The Starship Foundation, and their latest endeavour, super-comfy designer undies called ‘Bum Huggers’, see all profits going to support Bowel Cancer NZ – targeting life-saving awareness, education, advocacy, research and support.

The Woodland Reserve believe in second chances. This small family business based in Auckland create bespoke handmade jewellery and homewares by combining recycled New Zealand native timber with eco-friendly resin. Established in 2018 they have a dream of giving another purpose to discarded native timber.

“At the heart of General Collective is a strong desire to help connect small, innovative businesses and social enterprises with like-minded people. It goes further than just shopping local, it’s about making choices about what we buy and knowing that these decisions can have a far-reaching positive impact,” says Rose Barbarich, Founder of General Collective.

Because winter can be a tough time for those in need, Ponsonby Central will also have a collection box to drop off new pairs of kids PJs for The Middlemore Foundation’s ‘Jammies in June’ drive. Their goal this year is to collect 25,000 pairs of PJs for tamariki across South Auckland.

Once you’ve done all that good-vibe shopping and helped give a little back, head downstairs, grab a drink and treat yourself to something delicious from the melting pot of global fare from the likes of Olas Arepas, El Sizzling Chorizo, Mr Istanbul Corner, Chop Chop Noodle House and Lalele Organic Gelato.

Get yourself down to the heart of Ponsonby this weekend and come and see the difference.
