Del Winter, the talented jeweller behind Love Winter has been drawing crowds with her beautiful work since the very first General Collective market in 2014. Now, she’s created something for the blokes with a new men’s collection which will debut at the upcoming lifestyle & design market.
“I’ve always loved creating things with my hands so I started out creating jewellery with love – things that I would like to wear – good quality pieces for everyday wear, that could be added to and stacked,” she says.
Trained as a graphic designer, Del picked up a jewellery making course after taking time off from the workforce to raise her young family. It wasn’t long before Love Winter became a viable business and she decided to throw herself into it one hundred percent.
“I made this commitment to give it my all and I believe it gave me the fire to make it work – otherwise, it could have easily just remained a hobby,” she says. “General Collective was so helpful in those early days. Markets were my sole outlet for getting my name out there and it was a good way to start building a customer base."
Del says being part of General Collective’s like-minded community introduced her to other business owners and provided her with opportunities to start selling wholesale – a move she says definitely grew her business.
Today, Love Winter has a loyal fan base, a thriving online store and social following plus a newly opened bricks and mortar studio/shop on Auckland’s North Shore.
“It’s lovely to have those repeat clients, at General Collective they often come wearing their jewellery and even though I have an online presence and now a physical shop there is still value in connecting with people at the market – people really respond to meeting the hands that make the products and love to try things on,” she says.
“I always try to have new stuff at every market. The range has evolved from only sterling silver to include more gold and gold fill and now I’m excited to introduce a new men’s collection of rings, necklaces and bracelets.”
Come and visit Love Winter at the upcoming General Collective Lifestyle & Design Market, Sunday 28 May and see what all the fuss is about.
