General Collective and Interesting Things have teamed up to deliver The Auckland Anniversary Market and Whānau Festival, a fantastic two day boutique market and festival at The Cloud, Sunday 30 and Monday 31 January 2022, and you’re invited!
“After a challenging year we’re looking forward to a fun filled weekend, providing an opportunity for people to get out and connect with their community while showcasing the amazing creatives of Tāmakai Makaurau,” says Jamie Newman of Interesting Things.
Alongside General Collective’s curated market which will showcase the incredible talent of New Zealand’s creative community with high-quality homewares, accessories, jewellery and more, there is a full lineup of free entertainment and activities for the whole whānau to enjoy.
No matter your age or musical talents, release your beats at the Kra KoTo Kra drumming circle with a lively lesson in West African drumming. Modeletto’s air-drying clay modelling workshops let you make a small jewellery bowl or olive dish to take home and the kids can unleash their creative flair in Paint and Create’s 3D ceramic painting workshops.
Slip on some headphones and join the party in the Hedset Silent Party Zone featuring dance music from some of Auckland’s best DJs. Catch performances of Ngā Tohu o te Taiao, a te ao Māori arts reflection on the environment and seasons.
For the kids there’s free face painting by Rainbow Rascals, roving science demonstrations from Science in a Van and loose parts play with Junky Monkeys.
Rose Barbarich, Founder of General Collective says they are excited to be back at The Cloud in what is set to be an amazing two day event.
“We are always striving to take our General Collective markets to the next level. For us, it’s not just about shopping, it’s creating an atmosphere that brings people together for a unique experience – in interesting venues, with opportunities to connect, share something delicious to eat and enjoy free entertainment and activities – this festival definitely ticks all the boxes,” she says.
With some of Tāmaki Makaurau’s best food trucks on site to keep you fed, and coffee trucks, get your friends and whanau together and enjoy a great day out – good vibes, good food, good company in a stunning location.
